"so how
many did you get this year? yeah, well i got 7!"
WHO CARES?
Tired and pissed
off with the ridiculous fluffiness of valentine's? well so are we.
Who, in this modern world of wars, death and abuse needs to be told
when they should say "i love you"? And for the bargain
price of £2 for a crappy piece of cardboard with some shitty
little pink teddy holding a heart and some mushy bollocks someone
else wrote for someone else? Only a fucking Moron!
Get a life,
and realise, you should say it whenever you want to, (or don't).
Its supposedly a free world.
Anyway, call
us cynical, but lets have a party anyway, and celebrate our collective
hatred of this festival of Hallmark!

| Stop
the War
Thursday
17th November saw Barking Bateria's fourth performance in UEL Docklands
Bar in three months, this time in support of the uelsu's SWSS society
and their Troops Out campaign night. The performance may have been
short, stretching only to five songs, but went down well with the
crowd, getting them up and dancing and in the mood to continue the
partying.
The band was about 30 strong and played well, getting well into
the evening, and drawing the crowd in with the call of "NO
WAR" being used profusely during Hedgehog.
|
|
The band
has a history of supporting the Anti-war movement, as it has been present
at almost all of the large rallies in London for the last few year, including
making a very audible impression on the Parliament Square protest the
day the Iraq war broke out, and also being on the 2 million strong Feb
18th Protest, where we joined forces with members of Rhythms and Norwich
School of Samba. The most Recent rally attended was 24/09/05.

Lewes Bonfire
Night
Pirate madness
and lots of rum again descended on us on 5th November when we travelled
down to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the gunpowder plot in
the town infamous for its Bonfire Carnivals, Lewes, East Sussex.
|
Not participating
in the parade itself this year, the "Barking Buccaneers" commandeered
their own territory at the bottom of Friars walk, and played almost as
a protest to the Borough society who had ousted at the last minute.
The crowd
obviously prefered the thundering of our drums, as a couple of hundred
party go-ers came to dance to our performance, ignoring the torchlit processions
and intracate costumes of the societies. We created our own procession
and led a rag-tail mob down to waterloo firework display, before creating
our own mini rave ousite a carpet warehouse.
Without
doubt, we can say much fun was had by all, member and viewers.
